
Odisha Vigilance unearths huge assets from Sr Assistant of Cuttack City Hospital
Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 (UNI) Odisha Vigilance today conducted simultaneous searches at five locations linked to Kishore Kumar Sahani, Senior Assistant of Cuttack City Hospital, for allegedly misappropriating over Rs.1.24 crore of government funds.
According to Vigilance sources, Sahani was found to have amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
To collect evidence, a large-scale search operation was carried out by nine DSPs, ten Inspectors, seven ASIs, and other supporting staff, based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
During the raids, Vigilance officials unearthed a three-storey residential building at Jobra Nuasahi, Cuttack; another building and a poultry farm at Palasia, Choudwar, Cuttack; and 19 high-value plots in and around Cuttack town.
The sleuths also seized Rs.3.5 lakh in cash, gold ornaments weighing approximately 135 grams, and bank and insurance deposits worth Rs.44.46 lakh. The Vigilance Technical Wing is presently carrying out detailed measurements and valuation of the seized properties.
Records show that Sahani joined government service in 1997 as a Junior Assistant under the rehabilitation scheme and was posted at UGPHC, Mahanga, under the Family Welfare Department.
After transfers to various offices, he joined Cuttack City Hospital in 2001, where he served for over two decades before being promoted to Senior Assistant and posted at the office of the CDM & PHO, Cuttack.
Further details are awaited as the raid is still underway, Vigilance sources added.
