Odisha Vigilance Raids Forester in Kalahandi Over Alleged Disproportionate Assets

Kalahandi: Odisha Vigilance officials on Thursday launched simultaneous raids on Forester Bhagbat Bhusan Behera, posted under Bhawanipatna Forest Range, following allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

Acting on search warrants issued by the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, teams inspected multiple locations, including Behera’s triple‑storeyed residence in Hill Town, Bhawanipatna, his brother’s house in Deundi village under Junagarh police limits, and his office chamber at Bhatangpadar Forest Section in Forest North Division, Kalahandi.

The operation involved four DSPs, seven Inspectors, four ASIs, and supporting staff. Officials are scrutinising financial records, bank details, and movable and immovable assets.

Searches are still underway, and Vigilance authorities stated that details of assets detected will be disclosed after thorough assessment.

The raids underscore the department’s commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
