
Odisha Vigilance Raids Angul Irrigation Superintending Engineer Over DA Allegations
Bhubaneswar, August 18 [OT Webdesk]: In a sweeping crackdown on alleged corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Monday launched simultaneous raids at eight locations linked to Surendra Behera, Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Division in Angul.
The operation stems from allegations of disproportionate assets (DA) amassed by the senior official.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh, a team comprising 3 DSPs, 10 Inspectors, 4 ASIs, and supporting staff conducted searches across multiple districts, including Bhubaneswar, Rourkela, Sundargarh, Angul, and Ganjam.
Properties under scrutiny include:
- A triple-storey building in Sundargarh
- A double-storey house in Rourkela’s Gopabandhu Nagar
- Two flats in Bhubaneswar’s Aurovila-1, Ghatikia
- His paternal home in Ranjhali, Ganjam
- His in-laws’ residence in Aladigaon, Ganjam
- His official residence and office chamber in Angul
The searches are ongoing, with officials expected to release details on asset valuation and seizures in due course.
