Odisha Vigilance Nabs PEO in Crore-Value Assets Case
Keonjhar, Odisha: The Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Jitendra Kumar Jena, Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) of Bancho Gram Panchayat under Hatadihi Block, in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Officials confirmed that searches were conducted at multiple locations linked to Jena, revealing assets far exceeding his known sources of income. The detected assets include:
- A triple-storeyed residential building
- A double-storeyed market complex valued at over Rs 1.34 crore
- Six plots of land
- Gold ornaments weighing approximately 100 grams
- Bank deposits worth Rs 34.06 lakh
- One four-wheeler
Following the discovery, Balasore Vigilance Police Station Case No. 20/2025 was registered against Jena under the relevant provisions of law.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Special Judge (Vigilance), Keonjhar, later today.
Authorities stated that Jena failed to satisfactorily explain the sources of his wealth during the inquiry. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
