Odisha Vigilance Nabs Ex‑NESCO Engineer in Bribery Conviction
Keonjhar, Odisha: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar has convicted Ananta Kumar Sahoo, former Junior Engineer of NESCO (Electrical Section No. III, Keonjhar), in a bribery case.
According to Odisha Vigilance, Sahoo demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 6,000 from a consumer in exchange for providing an electricity connection to a newly constructed house.
Following a thorough investigation, he was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
On January 28, 2026, the court sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine. Notably, Sahoo had already been disengaged from service prior to the conviction.
This judgment underscores Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to curb corruption and ensure accountability among public officials.
