Odisha Vigilance Nabs ASI, Home Guard in Rs 10K Bribery Case

Odisha Vigilance Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar (OT Webdesk): In a decisive move against corruption, Odisha Vigilance arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tushar Nayak and Home Guard PK Sundaray from Bankoi police outpost in Khordha district. The duo was caught red-handed while accepting a ₹10,000 bribe from a local resident to manipulate a case diary.

According to officials, the bribe was solicited to remove the complainant’s name from police records, effectively shielding him from legal repercussions. Acting on a tip-off, the Vigilance team set up a trap and apprehended the officers during the illicit exchange.

Following their arrest, raids were conducted at Nayak’s residence, where authorities seized crucial documents and evidence. Ironically, Nayak had previously been honoured for his “notable service” by the district police.

Both officers are now under investigation, with legal proceedings underway. Authorities have yet to release further statements on the case.
