Odisha Vigilance Catches Barpali Accountant Red‑Handed Taking ₹6K Bribe
Barpali (Bargarh): Odisha Vigilance officials on Sunday caught a junior clerk‑cum‑accountant, Rajani Kanta Kar, red‑handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
Kar, posted at the Block Education Office in Barpali, had allegedly demanded the money to process arrear salary bills.
The complainant, frustrated by repeated refusals to clear the arrears without payment, approached Vigilance authorities.
Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid, and Kar was apprehended while taking the bribe.
The entire tainted amount was recovered and seized from his possession.
Simultaneous searches were conducted at two of Kar’s linked premises to probe possible disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered at Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 02, dated March 15, 2026) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway, and a detailed report will be prepared after completion of the probe.
