Odisha Vigilance Arrests Sub‑Treasury Staffer for Bribe in Nayagarh
Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Saroj Kumar Sahoo, a senior assistant at the Khandapara Sub‑Treasury in Nayagarh district, after he was caught red‑handed accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a pensioner.
According to reports, Sahoo had demanded the money to facilitate the credit of pensionary benefits and threatened to block bill processing if the bribe was not paid.
Acting on the pensioner’s complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and recovered the bribe money from his possession.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations linked to Sahoo to investigate disproportionate assets.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 05 dated 29.03.2026). Further inquiry is underway.
