Odisha Vigilance Arrests Irrigation SDO in Disproportionate Assets Case
Berhampur, Odisha: Vigilance officials have arrested Assistant Engineer Panchu Behera, serving as SDO at Daha Irrigation Sub‑Division under Bhanjanagar Irrigation Division, for amassing disproportionate assets far beyond his known income.
During simultaneous raids, investigators uncovered a multi‑storeyed building in Berhampur, five prime plots, Rs 18.90 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 90 lakh, 568 grams of gold, and heavy construction machinery, including an Ajax Argo 4300 concrete mixer valued at Rs 57 lakh and a Hyundai excavator worth Rs 37 lakh.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 (Berhampur Vigilance PS case No. 03/2026).
Behera will be produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.
This arrest is part of Odisha Vigilance’s intensified crackdown on corruption, reinforcing demands for transparency and accountability in public service.
