Odisha Vigilance Arrests Dasmantpur IIC for Accepting Rs 20,000 Bribe
Koraput: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Sukma Hansdah, Inspector in Charge (IIC) of Dasmantpur Police Station in Koraput district, on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Hansdah was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a relative of an accused currently in judicial custody.
The bribe was allegedly demanded to facilitate the submission of the case diary in court, a crucial step for enabling bail in a case registered earlier at Dasmantpur PS.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, vigilance officers laid a trap and recovered the entire tainted amount from Hansdah’s possession.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations linked to her to investigate possible disproportionate assets.
Authorities have registered Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 39/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The arrest highlights Odisha Vigilance’s continued efforts to curb corruption within the police force and uphold accountability in law enforcement.
