Odisha Van Accident at Jarau Ghat Injures Over 15 Devotees

Gajapati: A tragic road mishap occurred near Jarau Ghat in Odisha’s Gajapati district when a van carrying devotees to a religious program in Khariguda lost control and plunged nearly 10 feet down a slope.

The vehicle, which had started from Sorada in Ganjam district, was carrying several women and children among its passengers.

More than 15 people sustained injuries, with some reported to be in critical condition.

Local residents and police rushed to the spot to assist the victims. The injured were immediately shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur for treatment.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Preliminary concerns point to overloading and poor road infrastructure in the hilly terrain as possible factors.
