Odisha Unveils Rs 24,000 Cr Agri Push with PM Dhan-Dhaanya Yojana

Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: In a landmark move to transform the agricultural landscape, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Self-Reliant Agriculture Mission, aiming to empower farmers and diversify crop production across the state.

The schemes will initially roll out in Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, and Nuapada, targeting a shift from paddy monoculture to high-value crops like pulses and oilseeds.

With an annual investment of Rs 24,000 crore over six years, the initiative is expected to benefit 1.7 crore farmers nationwide.

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for a Rs 100 crore Integrated Aqua Park in Sambalpur’s Basantpur and a Rs 60 crore wholesale fish market in Bhubaneswar’s Pandara under the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana.

These projects aim to build a robust aquaculture value chain and generate over 2,000 indirect jobs.

Highlighting the state’s commitment, CM Majhi noted that over 60% of Odisha’s population depends on agriculture.

The government has allocated Rs 37,838 crore for agriculture in the 2025–26 budget, including the Samruddha Krushak Yojana, which ensures Rs 3,100 MSP per quintal and input support.

The Self-Reliant Agriculture Mission also aligns with national goals to reduce dependency on imported pulses and edible oils.

Odisha’s vision to lead India’s Blue Revolution is anchored in the upcoming Aqua Park in Hirakud, set for completion by January 2027.

Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Union Minister Jual Oram praised the initiatives, calling them a blueprint for sustainable agriculture and rural prosperity.
