Odisha Unveils ‘AWESOME’ App to Digitally Transform Anganwadi Centres
(OT Webdesk)In a major step toward modernising grassroots welfare delivery, the Odisha government has launched the ‘AWESOME’ app—short for Anganwadi Welfare and Services Oversight Monitoring Everywhere.
The digital initiative aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement across Anganwadi Centres statewide.
The app was unveiled during a skill development workshop for Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Project Officers, and District Social Welfare Officers at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasised the importance of digital tools in strengthening maternal and child welfare services, urging officials to approach their work with both technological savvy and human sensitivity.
Designed to track infrastructure details such as housing, sanitation, and electricity, the AWESOME app enables real-time feedback from parents and community members.
It marks a significant leap in Odisha’s efforts to ensure that Anganwadi Centres function as robust support systems for early childhood care and nutrition.
To further bolster its commitment, the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), aiming to enhance capacity-building and policy implementation in women and child development.
The government also announced a statewide awareness campaign titled ‘Asa Buliba Anganwadi’ from August 1 to 11, encouraging citizens to visit their local centres and share feedback via the app.
