Odisha Unveils Ambitious Blue Economy Vision at Global Summit
Bhubaneswar: Odisha has positioned itself as a frontrunner in sustainable ocean governance with the unveiling of its Blue Economy roadmap at the Global Summit 2026.
Usha Padhee, Additional Chief Secretary and Chairperson of IDCO, highlighted the state’s 575 km coastline as a strategic driver of industrial growth, coastal resilience, and ecological balance.
The vision emphasises port-led urbanisation, integrating world-class infrastructure with modern maritime logistics.
Plans are underway to establish Blue Economy hubs near Paradip, Dhamra, and Gopalpur ports, focusing on marine biotechnology, green shipping, and AI-enabled maritime management.
Odisha’s strategy also prioritises inclusive growth, aligning economic expansion with community welfare and ecosystem protection.
Initiatives such as coastal zone management, seaweed farming, and eco-friendly marine tourism are expected to generate livelihoods while safeguarding biodiversity.
By blending its maritime heritage with innovation, Odisha aims to emerge as a global leader in sustainable ocean enterprises, attracting international investment and driving digital transformation in maritime industries.
