Odisha to Roll Out 500m CCTV Surveillance Around Government Offices
In a major push toward smart governance and public safety, the Odisha government has announced plans to install CCTV cameras outside all state government offices.
The surveillance network will cover a minimum radius of 500 meters around each facility and feed directly into a centralised Command and Control Room for real-time monitoring.
The Commerce and Transport Department issued an official notification confirming the initiative. A high-level meeting scheduled for October 17 will finalise the technical specifications and implementation roadmap.
Officials emphasised that the system will be rolled out in phases following the review.
The move aims to deter unauthorised activities, enhance law enforcement response times, and promote transparency in public administration.
Authorities believe the integrated surveillance system will significantly upgrade security infrastructure and reflect Odisha’s commitment to digital modernisation.
This initiative marks a pivotal step in the state’s digital security roadmap, aligning with broader efforts to adopt smart tools for governance and citizen safety.
