Odisha to Restore Over 3,000 Heritage Sites | Monument Conservation Drive
The Odisha government has announced an ambitious plan to restore more than 3,000 heritage and monument sites across the state, aiming to preserve its cultural legacy and boost tourism.
A new Centre for Heritage Studies (CHS) will be established to document, conserve, and conduct scientific research on historic monuments.
In collaboration with IIT Madras, experts will apply advanced scientific methods to audit structural safety and guide conservation strategies, ensuring sustainability.
Iconic landmarks such as the Mukteswar Temple, Konark Sun Temple, and Lingaraj Temple will be prioritised under this initiative.
Officials emphasise that the program will not only safeguard Odisha’s architectural treasures but also strengthen cultural identity, enhance tourism appeal, and create opportunities for cultural education and economic growth.
