Odisha to leverage robotic technology for underwater structure safety
Bhubaneswar, Sep 23 (UNI) The Odisha Government has urged Coratia Technologies Pvt. Ltd., an innovative startup specialising in underwater robotics, to undertake inspection and safety enhancement of underwater infrastructure in the state.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja made the request during a courtesy call by Coratia Technologies Co-Founder Debendra Pradhan. The discussion focused on the application of underwater robotics to improve the sustainability and efficiency of Odisha’s underwater structures.
Recently, Coratia Technologies, a leading National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, based start-up company, signed a Rs 66 crore contract with the Indian Navy for the deployment of indigenous underwater robotic equipment.
Appreciating this achievement, the Chief Secretary lauded the company’s efforts and highlighted its potential in advancing technology and skill development in Odisha.
Coratia Technologies offers end-to-end underwater solutions, including civil structure inspection, underwater non-destructive testing (NDT), bathymetry, sediment analysis, and structural health assessments.
Its expert team also supports underwater maintenance, exploration, and rescue operations.
Acknowledging Odisha’s many dams, reservoirs, bridges, and old riverine structures, the Chief Secretary advised the company to leverage its robotic technology for their inspection and safety enhancement, stressing that the initiative would be highly beneficial for the state.
