Odisha to Host Matsya-Pranee Samavesh 2026: Farmers, Experts, and Innovations Unite in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department of Odisha is set to organise Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha 2026 from January 21 to 23 at Janata Maidan, Bhubaneswar.
The mega event, themed “Innovative Interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha,” will bring together farmers, experts, and policymakers to showcase modern technologies and best practices in the sector.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the three-day event, while Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati will preside over the valedictory session.
Over 8,000 fisheries and livestock farmers from across the state are expected to participate, with 26 representatives from each block.
The program will feature 12 panel discussions with national and international experts, an Ask the Minister session for direct farmer–minister interaction, and an exhibition with 208 stalls highlighting innovations in aquaculture, dairy, and poultry.
Live demonstrations of bio-floc technology, cage culture fish farming, cross-bred cows, and advanced poultry systems will be among the key attractions.
Rare breeds such as Murrah Buffalo Bulls “Surveer” and “Inder,” Punganur Cow, and Kankrej Bull will be showcased, alongside interactive zones including VR farm tours, dog shows, pet fashion shows, and cultural evenings featuring Sambalpuri, Dhemsa, Odissi, and Chhau performances.
The government will felicitate 348 successful practitioners and 20 departmental officers for their contributions. A walkathon, student competitions, and painting exhibitions will further engage the public.
Officials emphasised that the initiative aims to make Odisha self-reliant in milk, meat, eggs, and fish production while sensitising farmers to adopt modern technologies for higher productivity.
