Odisha to Host Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025, Welcoming 22 Nations to Bhubaneswar

Odisha is set to make history by hosting the 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championships for the first time, bringing together top-tier talent from across Asia.

Scheduled from October 11 to 15, 2025, the event will take place at the Athletics Centre of Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Jointly organised by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), Odisha Table Tennis Association, and the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Government of Odisha, the championship will feature over 500 participants, including players and support staff from 22 countries.

Competing nations include powerhouses like China, Japan, Korea, Iran, and host India. Both men’s and women’s teams will battle for qualification to the 2026 ITTF World Championships in London.

At a press briefing, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj expressed pride in Odisha’s growing stature as a global sports destination. “We’re fully prepared to deliver a world-class experience—from infrastructure and hospitality to security and logistics,” he said.

The championship coincides with two other major events: the 40th National Junior Athletics Championships (Oct 10–14) and the ITF Masters 100 Tennis Tournament (Oct 11–15), reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to sports excellence.

TTFI President Kamlesh Mehta lauded Odisha’s emergence as a hub for international sporting events, while officials from ATTU and the Odisha Table Tennis Association echoed confidence in the state’s readiness.

With three marquee events unfolding simultaneously, Odisha is poised to inspire a new generation of athletes and elevate its global sporting profile.
