Odisha to focus on quality education with 15,000 teacher hires
Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 26: School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced on Wednesday plans to recruit 15,000 teachers soon, alongside initiatives aimed at reducing dropout rates in government schools.
Gond emphasized that a comprehensive roadmap has been drafted to enhance the quality of school education across the state. He assured that all vacant teaching positions up to Class XII will be filled promptly to address staffing shortages.
“Our primary focus is to minimize dropout rates,” Gond stated, highlighting upcoming efforts to engage parents actively in encouraging school attendance. Additionally, schools lacking essential facilities such as toilets, classrooms, and drinking water will be equipped accordingly, with special attention given to rural areas.
Gond pledged to resolve longstanding issues in primary schools, ensuring teachers dedicate their time solely to classroom instruction rather than administrative tasks. Discussions are also underway regarding the implementation of 5T programs, with strict measures promised against any irregularities uncovered.
Regarding uniforms, Gond hinted at the reintroduction of blue pants and white shirts. Furthermore, the department is currently assessing and enhancing facilities for SC and ST students, ensuring they receive all necessary support and amenities.
