Odisha to Fill 1.5 Lakh Govt Posts, Prioritizes Healthcare and Education

Odisha government recruitment 2025

Bhubaneswar, June 26(OT Webdesk): In a sweeping move to strengthen public service delivery, the Odisha government has announced plans to recruit 1.5 lakh personnel across departments over the next five years, with a sharp focus on the healthcare sector.

Speaking at the CII-Odisha Healthcare Summit 2025, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling revealed that more than 5,000 medical professionals—including doctors, nurses, and paramedics—will be hired this year.

The initiative comes amid a pressing shortage of over 5,800 doctors in state-run hospitals.

As part of its long-term healthcare roadmap, Odisha has approved nine new medical institutions: four MBBS colleges in Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, and Nabarangpur; four dental colleges in Burla, Berhampur, Keonjhar, and Bolangir; and one Ayurvedic college in Mayurbhanj.

Additionally, two MBBS colleges in Talcher and Phulbani—each with 100-seat capacity—will start operating later this year.

Significantly, Bhadrak is poised for a major upgrade with plans for a new government medical college, a public university, and industrial investments exceeding Rs 6,500 crore.

The strategic investments aim to enhance healthcare infrastructure and create employment in underserved regions.

This recruitment and expansion push aligns with Odisha’s goal of achieving equitable access to public services and strengthening the state’s health and education ecosystem.
