Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: Several parts of Odisha are expected to experience rainfall over the next two days due to the influence of a western disturbance, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Saturday.
Light to moderate rain is likely in the northern and northwestern regions as the state prepares for New Year celebrations. According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, light rain is expected in one or two places across districts such as Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Nuapada until Sunday morning.
Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is forecasted for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and Angul districts. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in isolated areas of Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts during this period.
Rain is also expected in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Koraput, and Malkangiri until Monday morning.
The IMD has also predicted a drop in night temperatures across the state starting December 30, leading to colder conditions, making the New Year celebrations likely to be chilly. However, no significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over the next two days.
