Odisha to establish Compressed Bio-Gas Plant in Sambalpur
Bhubaneswar, Oct 10 (UNI) The Odisha government, in collaboration with Oil India Limited, will set up a Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) plant in Sambalpur to strengthen waste management and promote clean energy generation.
Union Minister for Education and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan today held a telephonic discussion from New Delhi with the Chairman and Managing Director of Oil India Limited, the Sambalpur District Collector, and the Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation to review the project’s progress.
The proposed facility will process 200 tonnes of organic waste daily to produce around 9 tonnes of compressed biogas, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Wealth from Waste” initiative.
Pradhan said the project would not only ensure a cleaner environment but also help meet the country’s energy needs, boost Odisha’s local economy, and create employment opportunities.
The meeting also emphasised the need to expedite the project’s implementation.
