Odisha to Commemorate Kranti Diwas on August 9 with State-Level Tribute to Freedom Fighters
Bhubaneswar, August 1 (OT Webdesk)— The state of Odisha will observe Kranti Diwas on August 9 with a solemn tribute to the heroes of India’s freedom struggle.
The event, organized by the State Freedom Fighters Committee, will be held at Saheed Smaraki Swadhinata Sangrami Sadan in Bhubaneswar.
Marking the anniversary of the Quit India Movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1942, the ceremony will begin with the national flag hoisting at 9:30 AM, followed by floral tributes and a Ram Dhun recital in honor of the martyrs.
Governor Dr. HB Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the dignitaries in attendance, alongside cabinet ministers, political leaders, and social figures.
Families of deceased freedom fighters will be specially invited and formally acknowledged during the program.
The organizing committee, chaired by Bimbadhar Muduli and MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, has finalised all arrangements.
Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan heads the reception committee, with MLA Babu Singh as Vice-Chairman and Upendra Padhi, Birupakshya Tripathy, and Abhay Badajena as coordinators.
Kranti Diwas serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for India’s independence and Odisha’s commitment to preserving that legacy.
