Bhubaneswar, Apr 10 (UNI): The Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with IOCL, Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited, and Petronet LNG have paved the way for Odisha to emerge as a leading state in the petrochemical and chemical sectors, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
Speaking to reporters at Biju Patnaik International Airport on Wednesday night upon his return from Delhi, Majhi stated that the MoU signed with IOCL in New Delhi marks the second historic milestone for Odisha’s industrial sector.
“This has created immense potential for the establishment of numerous downstream and ancillary units in the petrochemical sector. Our goal of transforming Odisha into a port-based economy is on track to be realized,” the Chief Minister said.
Majhi described the agreement as a landmark step in Odisha’s industrial growth and a major milestone in the development of the petrochemical sector in the state.
During his visit on April 7 and 8, Majhi also met with representatives of HCL Technologies at their Noida office and held discussions with several industry leaders in Delhi.
He proposed the establishment of an HCL campus in Odisha, and the response from the company was positive.
The Chief Minister remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Odisha as a state with great potential is becoming a reality, with significant investment opportunities emerging.
He further stated that the Odisha government has signed a total of 13 agreements and received 15 investment intents. These are expected to bring in investments worth Rs.1,03,900 crore and create 95,015 employment opportunities.
“The steps taken during this visit will generate substantial direct and indirect employment for the state’s talented youth,” Majhi added. He mentioned that more than 25 industrialists engaged with him during the visit, and discussions will continue in the coming days.
“There is now a bright prospect for future partnerships with them,” Majhi concluded.
