Odisha to Appoint Permanent Lecturers in Aided Colleges by October 31
Bhubaneswar, Oct 24, 2025: In a major push to strengthen Odisha’s higher education infrastructure, the state government has initiated the appointment of permanent lecturers in government-aided colleges.
Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj confirmed that the recruitment process is already underway, with applications open on the HIMS portal until October 31.
To ensure uninterrupted academic delivery during the transition, the government has temporarily deployed retired lecturers to 488 and 662-category aided institutions. This stopgap measure aims to maintain teaching continuity while permanent positions are being filled.
Minister Suraj emphasized the urgency of the initiative, citing long-standing faculty shortages and the need to elevate teaching standards across the state.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of students and improve the overall quality of education in Odisha’s aided colleges.
The education department is actively monitoring the recruitment process to ensure swift and transparent execution.
