Odisha to Add 1.88 Lakh Women to Subhadra Yojana by Raksha Bandhan

(OT Webdesk)In a decisive move to ensure inclusive welfare, Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has announced the inclusion of 1.88 lakh women who were previously left out of the Subhadra Yojana.

The announcement comes ahead of the scheme’s third installment, scheduled for disbursement on Raksha Bandhan.

The review process was formally launched at Sunny Vihar Anganwadi Centre in Bhubaneswar, in collaboration with IIM Sambalpur and the Women & Child Development Department.

Over the next month, feedback will be collected from approximately 22,000 women across the state, with support from NSS volunteers and other social service groups.

Deputy CM Parida emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring no eligible woman is excluded. Modalities for fund disbursement to the newly added beneficiaries will be finalized shortly.

Additionally, the state will begin accepting new applications for future installments once the review concludes.

The Subhadra Yojana, aimed at financially empowering women across Odisha, faced criticism after over 1.83 lakh women were excluded from its second installment.

This corrective step signals a renewed focus on equitable implementation and inclusive governance.
