Bhubaneswar, May 27 (OT Webdesk): The Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an urgent directive to district collectors, urging them to stay vigilant amid forecasts of severe weather conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure system is forming over the Bay of Bengal, potentially triggering heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the state.
Officials in districts under orange and yellow alerts have been instructed to activate emergency response mechanisms and report any damage promptly. Fishermen have been strongly advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to high winds and rough waters.
The IMD has further observed an upper air cyclonic circulation in the Northwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, which could intensify and bring further instability. Authorities continue to emphasise the importance of staying updated and adhering to official safety guidelines.
