Odisha Showcases SIR Preparedness at National CEO Meet 2025
New Delhi, October 22, 2025 — In a strategic move ahead of the nationwide Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) convened a two-day conference at the India International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Management (IIIDEM), spotlighting state-level preparedness.
Odisha’s delegation, led by Chief Electoral Officer R.S. Gopalan, IAS, presented its blueprint for voter roll revision and institutional readiness.
Joining Gopalan were Additional CEO Sushant Mishra and Deputy CEO Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu, who engaged in detailed discussions with top ECI officials, including Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
The conference reviewed:
- Mapping of current voters to previous voter bases
- Status of voter lists and qualifying dates
- Progress in appointments and training of DEOs, EROs, AEROs, BLOs, and BLAs
This session builds on the groundwork laid during the September 10 preparatory meeting, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to electoral transparency and operational efficiency.
