Bhubaneswar (Orissa Today): The Government of Odisha, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, is set to play a prominent role at the India Steel 2025 Conference, organized by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, in collaboration with FICCI. The three-day event is being held from 24th to 26th April 2025 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.
Hon’ble Chief Minister arrived in Mumbai this evening and will lead Odisha’s delegation at the Conference tomorrow.
India Steel 2025 was inaugurated earlier today by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, in the presence of global dignitaries and national industry leaders. The event brings together stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and international trade to deliberate on the future of the steel sector and its contribution to India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Key focus areas include sustainable steel production, raw material security, digital transformation, and global partnerships.
As a key highlight of Day 2, the Odisha delegation will host the “State Roundtable: Odisha – Focusing on Expanding Steel Production and Raw Material Supply” on 25th April 2025, chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi. The session will feature participation from India’s top steel producers including Tata Steel, JSPL, JSW, SAIL, AM/NS, and others, and is expected to underscore Odisha’s leadership as India’s steel capital.
The Roundtable will spotlight the State’s raw material strength, robust infrastructure, investor-friendly policies, and downstream potential. Senior officials from the Government of Odisha will deliver presentations, alongside experience-sharing by major industry leaders. A dedicated film on Odisha’s metal sector ecosystem will also be screened during the session.
Following the Roundtable, the Hon’ble Chief Minister will hold exclusive one-on-one B2G meetings with leading industrialists from the steel and allied sectors.
Additionally, the Hon’ble Chief Minister will meet with key national industry bodies including the Indian Chemical Council (ICC), and Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) to promote Odisha’s sectoral strengths.
The state of Odisha has come a longway in production of steel and is the larget producer of it. Now, Odisha is rightly called the steel capital of Odisha. The momentum will be maintained by adding capacity and industry-friendly policies which is already reflected in the recently held Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave last January.
Odisha’s active participation in India Steel 2025 reinforces its commitment to industrial transformation under the vision of Samrudh Odisha 2036 and reflects the State’s emergence as a future-ready, investor-first industrial hub in eastern India.
