Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan has announced that every village in Odisha will have access to piped drinking water by March 2027.
Reviewing progress at a high-level meeting, he emphasised a mission-mode approach to ensure the timely completion of projects.
Currently, 21,721 of the state’s 46,531 villages are covered under piped water supply. Since June 2024, 23 major water projects have been completed, alongside 2,951 single-village schemes, 2,702 solar-powered projects, and 26,137 tube wells.
The state has earmarked Rs 54,000 crore for the initiative, with Rs 32,128 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Rs 21,109 crore from state funds. Special priority will be given to tribal-dominated regions.
