Odisha Set to Introduce Comprehensive Government Land Management Act

The Odisha government is preparing to roll out a landmark legislation aimed at transforming land administration across the state.

The proposed Government Land Management Act seeks to consolidate outdated revenue laws into a unified framework, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and optimal utilisation of government land.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Kumar Pujari spearheaded the drafting process, which included consultations with senior officials, legal practitioners, and District Collectors.

The Act is designed to streamline administrative procedures, reduce legal complexities, and accelerate the implementation of infrastructure and welfare projects.

Once finalised, the draft will be reviewed by the Revenue Department before being placed before the state Cabinet.

The legislation is expected to be tabled in the upcoming session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Officials and stakeholders believe the Act will be a transformative step toward transparent governance, enabling smoother execution of development projects and strengthening public trust in land management practices.
