Odisha Secures Rs 155.48 Crore Incentives for Digital Agriculture Milestones

In a landmark achievement for Odisha’s agricultural modernisation, the Government of India has sanctioned Rs 155.48 crore under the Special Central Assistance (SCA) scheme.

The funding recognises Odisha’s successful implementation of the AgriStack initiative, a flagship Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) designed to transform farming through data-driven solutions.

Of the total, Rs 100 crore has been allocated for the effective rollout of the Digital Crop Survey (DCS), while Rs 55.48 crore rewards the state’s progress in establishing the Farmers’ Registry (FR).

Together, these reforms form the backbone of precise scheme delivery, ensuring verified farmer identities, geo-referenced crop data, and evidence-based planning.

Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo hailed the incentives as a “proud moment,” emphasising transparency, efficiency, and prosperity for farmers.

Principal Secretary Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee described the development as a “game-changer,” highlighting the shift from estimate-based to evidence-based decisions, with potential integrations of weather, soil, pest, and price data for predictive analytics.

This milestone positions Odisha as a frontrunner in India’s digital agriculture landscape, accelerating reforms that promise resilient livelihoods and sustainable growth for farmers across the state.
