Odisha RTE First Phase Selection 2026: 27,370 Children Secure Free Private School Seats
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced the results of the first phase of admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, offering free private school education to thousands of children from economically weaker sections (EWS).
Out of 44,777 applications received for 54,355 seats across 4,438 private unaided schools, 35,800 were verified as eligible.
A centralised online lottery system selected 27,370 students for admission.
The admission process for these selected students will take place between March 17 and March 31, 2026.
Schools have been directed not to charge any fees from parents or guardians, with strict legal action promised against violators.
To ensure transparency and accessibility, the state has activated a helpline (1800 345 6722) for parents to seek assistance or lodge complaints.
Applications were processed through the official RTE Paradarshi portal, with verification carried out by Block Education Officers.
This initiative marks a significant step toward equitable education, ensuring that disadvantaged children gain access to quality private schooling without financial burden.
