Odisha Revenue Employees Suspend Protest, Resume Work Amid Floods and Festive Season

Bhubaneswar, August 26(OT Webdesk) — The Odisha Revenue Employees’ Association has officially suspended its 15-day-long protest, with staff returning to duty starting today.

The decision comes after assurances from the state government and in light of the ongoing flood situation across several districts, coupled with the approaching festive season.

The protest, which began on August 11, saw employees go on mass leave to press for a 10-point charter of demands. These included revisions in basic pay, health insurance coverage, and other service-related benefits.

The agitation had severely disrupted government services, prompting the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to issue disciplinary warnings and demand lists of absentees.

Despite cancelled leave requests, many employees remained absent, triggering administrative concerns.

While the government acknowledged the legitimacy of the demands, it warned that violations of service rules would attract strict disciplinary action.

With the strike now suspended, public services across Odisha are expected to return to normalcy, offering relief to citizens and administrative departments alike.
