Odisha Reports 3,205 Rape Cases in 15 Months | Rising Crimes Against Women
Odisha has reported a staggering 3,205 rape cases between July 2024 and September 2025, according to figures presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the State Assembly.
The statistics highlight a troubling surge in violence against women across the state.
In addition to rape, police registered 202 cases of attempted rape, 9,851 cases of molestation, and 1,476 cases of sexual harassment during the same period.
Other alarming figures include 2,310 cases of public disrobing, 152 cases of voyeurism, and 556 incidents of stalking.
Kidnapping and abduction of women remain a major concern, with 8,863 cases reported. Authorities also documented 4 acid attacks, 129 trafficking cases, and 796 incidents of eve-teasing.
Dowry-related violence continues to plague Odisha, with 277 dowry homicides, 5,861 cases of dowry torture, 6,773 cases of non-dowry torture, and 49 dowry suicides recorded.
Chief Minister Majhi stressed that these numbers reflect a disturbing trend that demands urgent policy intervention, stronger law enforcement, and greater societal awareness to protect women across the state.
