Odisha records 6.1 percent industrial growth in 2023-24: Minister
Bhubaneswar, Sep 19 (UNI) Odisha registered an industrial growth rate of 6.1 per cent during 2024-25, State Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed the Assembly today.
Replying to a written query from Congress legislator Dhruba Charan Sahu, the Minister cited the Odisha Economic Survey, which noted the state’s industrial growth at 1.4 per cent in 2020-21, 12.1 per cent in 2021-22, 6.1 per cent in 2022-23, and 8.7 per cent in 2023-24.
Highlighting investment interest, the Minister said 191 MoUs were signed with various organisations between January and September 2025.
He added that the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has recommended 7,818 acres of land allotment to IPICOL for establishing a proposed 24 MTPA steel plant by M/S AMINS at Mahakalpada in Kendrapara district.
In response to another question from BJP MLA Upasana Mohapatra, Swain said the state collected Rs. 26,100 crore as SGST, Rs. .4,260 crore as electricity duty, and Rs. 46,397 crore
as mining revenue from 115 mineral-based industries during the financial year 2024-25.
Overall, Odisha’s total revenue stood at Rs. 76,757 crore in 2024-25, up from Rs 7 0,590 crore in 2023-24, marking a significant rise in collections, Swain said.
