Odisha Pushes for Science City and Space Innovation Hub with Central Backing

Odisha’s Science & Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra met Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to fast‑track two landmark projects — the Odisha Science City and a Space Innovation Hub.

The proposed Science City, spread across 100 acres near Bhubaneswar, will feature interactive exhibits, immersive learning spaces, and modern facilities designed to inspire young minds and promote scientific awareness.

Alongside, the Space Innovation Hub aims to nurture startups and research in satellite data applications, leveraging Odisha Space Applications Centre (ORSAC) and labs such as VSSUT Burla.

The initiative is expected to position Odisha as a leader in space‑tech entrepreneurship.

The state also plans to roll out Bio e‑Cells under the national Bio‑E3 Policy, focusing on biomanufacturing, eco‑friendly technologies, and converting lab research into biotech products.

Minister Patra emphasised the importance of synergy between state and central governments, while Dr Singh assured full support, aligning these projects with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

Together, these initiatives mark Odisha’s ambition to transform into a hub for science, space technology, and biotechnology.
