Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), Sept 23: Odisha is preparing for another round of heavy rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that a fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and surrounding regions within the next 24 hours. According to the IMD’s midday bulletin, the merging of upper air cyclonic circulations over the Westcentral Bay of Bengal and south Coastal Myanmar has led to the formation of a cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestward.
A yellow warning for heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, has been issued for September 23 in several districts, including Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Nabarangpur.
On September 24, heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected to persist in isolated areas of Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, and Jajpur, while thunderstorms with lightning may also affect Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Puri.
Further warnings indicate that on September 25, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, and Nuapada. The heavy downpour may continue in Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Balangir on September 26.
