Odisha Premier League Set to Electrify Barabati Stadium from September 17
Cuttack, Odisha — Cricket fever is set to grip the state as the Odisha Premier League (OPL) kicks off on September 17, 2025, at the iconic Barabati Stadium.
Modeled after the Indian Premier League (IPL), this fast-paced T20 tournament promises thrilling action and fierce competition among six franchise teams.
The player auction, held at a luxury hotel in Bhubaneswar, saw athletes categorised into five pricing tiers, with marquee players fetching Rs 1.25 lakh.
Each team boasts a 16-player roster, carefully curated to balance experience and emerging talent.
Franchise teams include the Cuttack Panthers, Sambalpur Warriors, Puri Titans, Bhubaneswar Tigers, Keonjhar Miners, and Rourkela Steelers. Captains like Swastik Samal and Shubhranshu Senapati will lead their squads into battle, backed by seasoned coaching staff.
The tournament runs until September 26, offering fans ten days of high-octane cricket. With local pride and professional ambition on the line, the OPL is poised to become a cornerstone of Odisha’s sporting calendar.
