Odisha Police Welcomes Maoist Cadre’s Surrender in Rourkela

Rourkela, Odisha: In a significant breakthrough for Odisha Police, a woman Maoist cadre from the Anmol team, active in the Saranda forest region, surrendered before Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai and Rourkela SP at the police headquarters.

The surrender was marked by a symbolic welcome, with officials greeting her with flowers and a shawl.

DIG Rai confirmed that she will be provided benefits under the government’s official surrender and rehabilitation scheme.

This development comes amid a series of successes for Odisha Police, with 77 Maoists surrendering in recent months.

Additionally, 23 Maoists from Odisha laid down arms before the Chhattisgarh Police.

Authorities believe the move further weakens Maoist influence in border areas and reflects growing confidence in the government’s rehabilitation program, which aims to reintegrate former cadres into mainstream society.
