Odisha Police Suspends Two Inspectors for Negligence and Misconduct

(OT Webdesk)Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP), Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, has suspended two police inspectors—Rajesh Baliarsingh and Debashish Mohanty—over serious allegations of negligence and misconduct.

Inspector Rajesh Baliarsingh, currently posted at Astaranga PS in Puri, was accused of releasing a detained ganja peddler during his tenure as Sub-Inspector at Jeypore Town PS.

The peddler later died under suspicious circumstances, prompting a case and investigation. Concerns over Baliarsingh’s potential influence on the probe led to his suspension.

Inspector Debashish Mohanty, stationed at Chhatrapur PS in Ganjam, was suspended for general negligence. He has been directed to report to the IG’s office in Berhampur during the suspension period.

The police headquarters issued an official notification confirming both suspensions, signaling a strong stance on accountability within the force.
