Odisha Police Reshuffles 56 Inspectors to Strengthen Vigilance and Special Branch

The Odisha Police headquarters in Cuttack has announced a sweeping reshuffle of 56 Inspectors of Police across the state, aimed at optimising manpower and addressing administrative needs.

The transfer order, issued under Office Order No. 3633/Pers-I on December 20, 2025, was approved by the Police Establishment Board and mandates immediate relief and joining of officers.

The reshuffle includes significant postings to sensitive divisions such as Vigilance and the Special Branch, reinforcing the state’s anti-corruption and intelligence wings amid rising challenges in cybersecurity and graft investigations.

Officers like Chinmay Ranjan Pany, Dipti Ranjan Ojha, Laxmikanta Pradhan, Suprava Nayak, and Arundhati Parida have been moved to Vigilance, while Sasmita Pal, Ranjeeta Behera, Kumari Pranati Nayak, and others have been redirected to the Special Branch.

District-level movements also feature prominently, with transfers to Koraput, Bolangir, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, and Rourkela.

Several earlier postings have been cancelled or held in abeyance, reflecting ongoing adjustments to operational demands.

Notably, the transfers of Ashok Kumar Behera and Bhaskar Pradhan were scrapped, while Meenati Kumari Nayak’s move to Nayagarh has been deferred for six months.

This reshuffle follows a similar large-scale transfer in November, underscoring Odisha Police’s proactive approach to manpower optimisation.

As the state grapples with corruption probes, border security, and cybercrime, the latest rotations are seen as vital for injecting fresh perspectives into key policing units.
