Odisha Police Officer Suspended Over Alleged Nexus with Ganja Mafia

(OT webdesk)In a major disciplinary action, the Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) has suspended Inspector Rajesh Baliarsingh, currently posted as Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Astarang Police Station in Puri.

The suspension follows serious allegations that Baliarsingh shielded ganja (cannabis) mafias during his tenure as Sub-Inspector at Jeypore Town Police Station in Koraput district.

A police team from Koraput interrogated Baliarsingh at the Capital Police Station in Bhubaneswar. However, he reportedly went absconding, prompting a raid on his government residence.

The DGP’s order cites “gross misconduct” and confirms that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated. Baliarsingh has now been placed under the disciplinary control of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack.

The suspension is effective immediately and marks a stern warning against collusion within law enforcement ranks.
