Odisha Police Marks National Unity Day with Parade, Tributes, and Youth Engagement

Cuttack, October 31 — The Odisha Police Headquarters commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a state-level National Unity Day celebration at the 6th OSAP Battalion premises in Cuttack.

The event underscored the values of unity, integrity, and national security.

Crime Branch ADGP Binaytosh Mishra, the chief guest, paid floral tribute to Patel and received the ceremonial salute during a combined parade featuring units from the 6th OSAP Battalion (Cuttack), 6th IR Battalion (Khurda), 3rd IR Battalion, Police Colour Party, and Brass Band Party. Commandant Yakub Khan of the 3rd IR Battalion led the parade.

Mishra administered the Unity Pledge, urging officers and citizens alike to uphold national unity and internal security. In his address, he highlighted Patel’s pivotal role in integrating 562 princely states into the Indian Union, a feat that solidified India’s sovereignty.

The celebration also featured cultural and educational activities, including Run for Unity, drawing contests, essay writing, and debates. Students actively participated, reinforcing the spirit of unity among the youth.

Senior police officials, including ADGPs S.K. Priyadarshi, Arun Bothra, Sanjay Kumar, Dayal Gangwar, and Rajesh Kuma,r attended the event. Similar programs were held across all 34 police districts in Odisha, amplifying the message of harmony and collective responsibility.
