Odisha Police Intensifies Crackdown on Mule Accounts Under Operation Cyber Kavach

Bhubaneswar: In a sweeping cybercrime crackdown, Odisha Police has verified 22,455 mule (benami) bank accounts across the state under Operation Cyber Kavach.

The initiative has already led to 281 arrests and the registration of 760 cybercrime cases, exposing fraudulent financial networks used in ATM withdrawals, cheque fraud, and fake SIM/PoS verifications.

District cybercrime units, supervised by SPs and DCPs, have issued 5,092 legal notices to suspected account holders linked to 147 FIRs.

Rourkela, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Mayurbhanj, and Boudh are among the districts reporting significant action, with arrests, account verifications, and notices issued.

Directed by DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania, the operation aims to dismantle cyber fraud networks and strengthen digital transaction safety.

Odisha Police has pledged to intensify enforcement, raise public awareness, and coordinate investigations to safeguard citizens against evolving cyber threats.
