Odisha Police Intensifies Crackdown on Cyber Fraud with ‘Operation Cyber Kavach’
Odisha Police has launched a sweeping campaign against cybercrime, targeting mule bank accounts used in fraudulent transactions.
Under Operation Cyber Kavach, authorities have inspected 11,155 accounts and arrested 238 accused across multiple districts.
The operation has already registered 518 new cases, including 480 linked to mule accounts and others involving ATM withdrawals, cheque encashment, fake SIM cards, and PoS devices.
Legal notices have been issued to over 3,000 suspected account holders and accomplices.
District‑level actions highlight the scale of the crackdown: Balasore checked 310 accounts, Jharsuguda 188, Kendrapara 175, Rourkela 130, Khordha 118, and Jagatsinghpur 107.
Similar drives are underway in Ganjam, Cuttack (rural), Jajpur, Keonjhar, Puri, Balangir, Sundargarh, Nuapada, and Rayagada.
DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania emphasised that the campaign will intensify further, aiming to secure digital transactions and move toward a cybercrime-free Odisha.
