Odisha Pays Tribute to Paika Rebellion Hero Buxi Jagabandhu on Shraddha Divas

Bhubaneswar: Odisha observed Shraddha Divas to honour Buxi Jagabandhu, the legendary leader of the Paika Rebellion, at Museum Square in Bhubaneswar.

The Department of Information and Public Relations organized the solemn event, where officials, social organizations, and students offered floral tributes at his statue.

Speakers highlighted Jagabandhu’s courage, sacrifice, and battle strategies against British colonial rule, describing him as a symbol of resistance and an eternal inspiration for generations.

The ceremony reaffirmed Odisha’s respect for its revolutionary heritage and the Paika Rebellion’s pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle.

Prominent attendees included government officials Jitendriya Jena, Pramodini Tete, Basanti Mahali, and Bhagabat Das, alongside representatives from Utkal Sammilani and other social groups.

Students also joined the tribute, reflecting on Jagabandhu’s indomitable spirit and his enduring legacy in Odisha’s history.
