Odisha Partners with Tata Technologies to Transform ITIs into Centres of Excellence
Bhubaneswar: In a landmark move to strengthen skill development, the Odisha government has signed four strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) at the World Skill Centre, Bhubaneswar.
The most significant partnership is with Tata Technologies, which will help upgrade 22 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) into Centres of Excellence (CoEs) at a project cost of Rs 779 crore.
Under the agreement, Tata Technologies will contribute 86% of the funding, while the state government will provide 14%.
The initiative will focus on future‑ready sectors, including electric vehicles, robotics, IoT, advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, CNC/VMC machining, plumbing technology, and process control.
Tata Technologies will also support the project for five years through trainer deployment, equipment maintenance, and placement facilitation.

Additional MoUs were signed with UNICEF to empower over 2,000 girls through digital skilling on the YouthHub platform, with Kawasaki Robotics India to boost Industry 4.0 capabilities, and with Atreya Global Pvt. Limited to creating overseas employment pathways in Germany and Europe.
Speaking at the event, Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain emphasised that skill development is not just welfare but a core economic strategy, aimed at making Odisha’s youth globally competitive.
This initiative is expected to align Odisha’s skilling ecosystem with international standards, enhance employability, and open global opportunities for the state’s workforce.
