Odisha Orders Mission-Mode Drive to Clear Pending Land Record Amendments
The Odisha government has directed all districts to expedite the correction of pending Column‑2 (Khata No. 2) Record of Rights (RoR) cases in mission mode.
District Collectors have been tasked with personally overseeing progress, while Sub‑Collectors will monitor implementation at the ground level.
Tahsildars with large backlogs have been warned of disciplinary action if delays persist.
A dedicated dashboard has been introduced to track progress, requiring mandatory reporting of updates and challenges.
While districts such as Nuapada, Koraput, Boudh, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Sambalpur have shown encouraging results, others have been flagged for unsatisfactory performance.
Column‑2 corrections are crucial for securing land ownership and enabling farmers to access benefits under schemes like PM‑Kisan and other Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programs.
Delays not only harm citizens but also weaken administrative credibility.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari and RDCs have emphasised that land record amendments must be treated as a top priority, linking them directly to farmer welfare and governance efficiency.
